Emergency Department

Why do our patients choose Mon General Hospital's Emergency Department?

  • In the last 12 months, our internal tracking shows most of our patients can expect to be in an Emergency Department bed in 5 minutes or less.

  • Within 15 minutes of a patient's arrival, he or she will speak to a physician or a physician assistant.

  • Mon General Hospital Emergency Department is ranked in the top 3 percent of hospital emergency departments in the United States for patient satisfaction, according to Press Ganey, one of the nation's leading patient experience companies. Press Ganey partners with 26,000 healthcare organizations and over 50 percent of hospitals nationwide.

  • Mon General is the only hospital in the region with Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care.

This means patients experiencing a heart attack can expect to receive emergent cardiac intervention (stent placement) in 90 minutes or less.

At Mon General, emergency cardiac care begins the second you call 911 and a Mon EMS ambulance is dispatched. Paramedics trained in advanced life support connect the patient to a 12 lead EKG. This device measures the electrical activity of the heart and helps medical personnel determine if a heart attack has occurred or is occurring. This information is transmitted directly to the hospital.  Learn more about Mon General's Chest Pain Center Accreditation.
