Nurse Mentorship Program
Mon General Hospital offers a unique opportunity annually to a select group of nursing students to receive a one-on-one mentorship with a staff RN. During the Mentorship program you will have the opportunity to perform a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, who will serve as a mentor. The program will provide an opportunity to participants to enhance their skills and increase their confidence in the clinical setting.
Some of the responsibilities of participants in this program will include: obtaining and reporting blood sugars, vital signs, Intake and Output, assisting the RN with examinations and procedures, responding to lights/communication system, and transport of patients/specimens.
This is a temporary full time or part time 8 week position. The program is usually in effect during the summer months. Individuals selected for the mentorship program will be paid on an hourly basis. At the end of the mentorship program, participants can apply to remain on call as a clinical assistant or apply for any other open positions in which they may be interested. The rate of pay will change to the applicable rate for the position.
Application Criteria
The following criteria must be met for acceptance into the MGH Nurse Mentorship Program:
- Must be enrolled in an institution of higher learning and be on track to complete the senior year curriculum during the ensuing school year.
- Must currently be carrying a 3.0 GPA.
- Must submit two favorable letters of recommendation from nursing faculty.
- Must complete MGH application for employment.
- Must complete all hospital criteria for employment.
